Description
The UOC - Doctoral School grants for completing doctoral theses involve exclusive dedication by the student and their physical presence at the University's facilities. The standard period that the grant covers is three years, and the grants are subject to an annual renewal. This renewal depends on the students' meeting the learning and research objectives established in each particular case.
The UOC is a fully accredited online university. Its headquarters are in Barcelona and its students, from all around the world, total more than 80,000 a year. The UOC welcomes students seeking to develop their research in an international environment, with highly qualified colleagues, and in programmes that adhere to the Bologna Process.
In order to promote the training of researchers in the different research groups at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), the UOC is awarding one (1) predoctoral grant for doctoral theses in the framework of the interuniversity doctoral programmes in Business Management (interuniversity: UPC, UPM, UPCT, UOC); Tourism (interuniversity: UMA, UA, UCA, UCM, UEX, ULL, Nebrija, UOC, URJC, USC, US, UVIGO).
Benefits
The salary to be received by trainee predoctoral researchers during this period shall be €18,180.41 gross per year for the first and second years, and €19,479.01 for the third year. In any case, the salary remuneration for each year shall be established taking account of the provisions of Article 21.d) of Law 14/2011, and Article 7 of Royal Decree 103/2019. The amounts indicated herein may therefore be increased.
Eligibility
- The potential beneficiaries of a UOC predoctoral grant for doctoral programmes include individuals who, at the time of submitting an application, fulfil (or could fulfil by 26 July) the access requirements for the organized research period on a doctoral programme at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.'

Candidates will need to complete a grant application linked in the admission form from the Virtual Campus, along with the documentation required to access the specific doctoral programmes (academic record; in the case of candidates from non-English-speaking countries, accreditation of English language skills, etc.) which is given in detail on each doctoralprogramme website (Apply for admission section). The application will be submitted at the same time as the doctoral programme application.
Take into account that if the UOC does not have all the documents required before the stipulated date, the university cannot be held responsible if the candidate encounters delays in obtaining their visa to enter the country. With this in mind, the UOC cannot guarantee that the grant will remain available.
