Overview
The Nova School of Business and Economics offers a Economics and Finance Ph.D programme, where you become an important link in an exciting research environment. At Nova SBE, they promote the inclusion of the Ph.D. candidates in the research projects of the faculty, as they believe that the quality of the doctoral training and of the research are intimately connected. The Ph.D. programme is structured to be fully funded, offering financial support to students, allowing them to focus on their research and academic growth.
Through the Digital Data Design Institute at Nova SBE and NOVA Medical School (D^3 Institute), Ph.D. candidates may be eligible to engage in exchange programmes with D^3 at Harvard, enhancing their research experience in one of the world’s leading academic environments.

- Curriculum Vitae
- Transcript of records of undergraduate with the full list of courses and grades (also accepted in Portuguese).
- Transcript of records of graduate degrees with the full list of courses and grades. Candidates who have not yet finished their graduate program should provide a certificate of enrolment with the complete list of grades achieved to date (also accepted in Portuguese).
- Recommendations in the form of two letters of reference, which should be sent directly by referees (as explained in the Online Application Instructions available at the application platform).
- Statement of Purpose.
- Applicants who hold, or will shortly hold, one of the following Nova SBE Master’s degrees are not required to submit GMAT/ GRE results:
- For PhD in Economics and Finance: Master’s in Economics, Master’s in Finance, International Master’s in Finance.
- For PhD in Management: Master’s in Business Analytics.
- Copy of passport or Identity Card.
