Overview
Research topic description
There is a lack of research that systematically links investment allocation to outcomes of the green transition and national value creation. While existing studies often examine sustainable development, climate policy, or green finance in isolation, they do not provide integrated models that could help to assess the optimal scale, structure and direction of investment required for a country to transition to a green, climate-resilient economy. This is an important and complex problem in economics and finance that requires conceptual development and empirical modelling to solve.
This study aims to develop an analytical and modelling tool for optimally allocating investments to support the green transition while simultaneously increasing national financial value. This tool will identify priority investment areas that deliver environmental benefits and economic and financial returns.
The proposed investment modelling system will enable policymakers, financial institutions and public authorities to anticipate investment risks more effectively, assess expected returns and balance public and private capital flows in strategic green sectors. The systematic use of this tool could support evidence-based decision-making, improve the effectiveness of national green transition investment strategies and strengthen a country's competitiveness in a low-carbon economy.
The selected candidate will work on the PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. dr. Indrė Lapinskaitė. The successful applicant will have to attend scientific conferences, meetings and internships in the other universities.
