The University of Georgia Integrated Plant Sciences (IPS) Program offers graduate students pursuing a doctoral degree opportunities to explore different areas of plant and fungal sciences research before selecting a home department and research focus.

Programme Structure

Curriculum:

During their first semester IPS graduate students engage in a core curriculum with opportunities to rotate through the labs of faculty from across 8 different PhD departments and institutes.

By the end of the fall semester, IPS students are expected to select a sponsoring faculty advisor/lab. IPS graduate students are then admitted to the PhD graduate program of the primary home department of the faculty advisor and will be required to meet all the doctoral degree requirements in that department.

The IPS is not a degree granting program, rather it is designed to broaden research opportunities for students who wish to explore the breadth and depth of research in the plant sciences.
