The Geography Graduate Student Association at York University has an active social program and promotes the interests of Geography graduates in the University.

Features

You’ll join a group of 65 students supervised by more than 30 professors whose area of expertise is linked to research institutes including the City Institute, Global Labour Research Center, the Centre for Refugee Studies, the Centre for Feminist Research, York Centre for Asian Research, and the Centre for Research on Latin America & the Caribbean.

All of our graduate student receive financial support in the form of assistantships or scholarships. Most of our students also receive support for their fieldwork from graduate faculty members' research grants.

Programme Structure

Curriculum:

Areas of interest include biogeography, migration, wetlands, political ecology, global connections, place and identity, GIS and remote sensing, feminist geography, urbanism, northern environments, international development, political economy, transnationalism, and labour.

The spirit of sustainability and social justice animates the research work conducted by the community of graduate faculty and current students.
