Overview

The MCP program prepares students for independent careers in biomedical research related to molecular mechanisms of human disease. The program is research-intensive, with a flexible curriculum tailored to a student’s background and research interests. Students are exposed to the latest conceptual and technical developments in biomedical research and develop critical analysis and communication skills, as well as technical proficiency. The unique strengths of the MCP program are the flexible course of study, highly individualized advising, and the dual clinical/basic research nature of the Department of Pathology.

Outcomes

The Molecular Pathology of Human Disease Ph.D. program at Wayne State University is designed to train students for research careers in academia or industry, and is focused on understanding, treating and preventing human disease. The program of study is focused on laboratory research, but also includes coursework, journal clubs and seminars.

Although there are no specific requirements, significant consideration will also be given to an applicant's area of undergraduate study, the amount of research experience, and Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.
