General requirements

• Applicants for a doctoral degree in these areas must have a good first degree in a relevant subject area and a master’s degree, normally at distinction standard. Candidates must also achieve the higher College requirement in the appropriate English language qualification.

• Prospective students must contact a potential supervisor before making a formal application and you should not proceed to a formal application without the agreement of the prospective supervisor. 

• The application must include an outline proposal of the research area or topic you wish to pursue. This should be around 500 words in length and should indicate the treatment of research intended and the source of the materials to be used. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an interview.
