Overview
At the beginning of the Management and Marketing course at Durham University you will attend a PhD programme induction to start building a network with your peers in the programme, connect with our academic faculty in the Department, and meet the wider community in the Business School.
Key facts
The first year in the PhD programme includes eight compulsory modules which will be delivered and assessed with innovative and collaborative methods. In addition, students will select two elective modules in line with their specific academic interests and research projects.
The modules take place in a blended format, including lecture-type delivery, but with a stronger focus on guided work in small groups, and on individual and group work that helps you develop a deeper understanding of academic research.

General requirements
- A degree that is equivalent to a UK Masters. You also need to have completed and passed (at a level equivalent to at least 65%) a dissertation module. .
- A Bachelors degree from the UK or an international equivalent in a discipline relevant or related to the subject applied for, from a recognised university. The degree should normally be completed with 2:1 and include a dissertation element normally with a mark of at least 65%. Evidence of research skills and at least initial levels of relevant research methods training are normally required
