Programme Structure
Curriculum:
- The first year of the PhD-program is largely devoted to rigorous training in accounting research, economics, behavioral science, econometrics, and research methods. The second year introduces students to more advanced topics in their area of interest.
- As from the beginning, PhD-students are encouraged to work on creative research together with faculty members. The last two to three years of the PhD-program consists of completing the dissertation under supervision of one or more faculty members. PhD-students always write at least one single-authored paper that will be their job market paper.

General requirements
- An academic Master’s or MPhil/Research Master’s degree in business studies, economics, econometrics, operations research or another relevant field that is deemed an equivalent to the previous education profile.
- Completed the previous degree with an excellent GPA (top 10% of class).
- A solid quantitative background
- Proficiency in English, to be proven by means of an IELTS score of at least 7.0 (no sub-scores below 6.5), a TOEFL score of at least 100 (internet based) or 600 (paper based), or Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE, at least B) or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). Exemptions can be provided to native speakers and candidates who have obtained their Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English in the European Union, Canada, USA, Australia or New Zealand.
