About the programme

The aim of the network is to support science education within Cell Biology and Genetics at Karolinska Institute. The network bridges various research disciplines within pre-clinical and clinical research.

The network is a collaboration with groups from many parts of KI, and its administrative base is at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology at KI Biomedicum. In addition to that, the network collaborates with a number of other organizations in Sweden and abroad in the organization of individual courses and events.

Programme Structure

Courses include:

Rare disease genomics
Human cell culture
Redox regulation, oxidative stress and selenoproteins
Bioinformatics analysis of gene regulation in omics data
Artificial intelligence and machine learning for biomedical and clinical research
Electron microscopy for cell biologists
Epigenetics and its applications in clinical research
Cell sheet technology (CST) and its clinical applications

A prospective doctoral student meets the general entry requirement for doctoral education if he or she:

has been awarded a degree at advanced (equivalent to second-cycle in Sweden) level, or,
has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits (ECTS) of which at least 60 credits (ECTS) were awarded at advanced level, or
has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
