About the programme

The doctoral programme in Social Work at Linköping University also aims to advance students' ability to utilise the scientific skills and knowledge they develop in the programme in their future research or other qualified professional work, and to present and disseminate their research results nationally and internationally.

Programme Structure

Research:

The research environment is highly interdisciplinary, and theories and methods from several disciplines are applied in many empirical fields.
In the research carried out, light is directed not only onto the various mechanisms that create and recreate vulnerability, inequality and exclusion, but also onto all forms of initiative that can in different ways meet and counteract these mechanisms.
The research is thus founded on a critical approach, with a focus on investigating in more detail the relationships between power and resistance, between inclusion and exclusion.

The general entry requirements are satisfied by applicants who have at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 must be at advanced level, and by those who have equivalent knowledge in the principal topic of the research education acquired in Sweden or abroad.
