The subject also includes studies of the physical, chemical and biological properties of the marine and lacustrine sediments and rocks, as well as the use of these properties for reconstruction of the Earth's environmental and climate development.

Objectives

The Marine Geology programme at Stockholm University aims to provide:

increased knowledge of research methodology and working methods in the field of marine research
in-depth knowledge in, for example, marine science, marine geophysics, marine geochemistry, paleoceanography, paleoclimatology, marine and lakustrin sedimentology or marine and lacustrin micropaleontology
an interdisciplinary, applied holistic view of the geological disciplines
to be able to carry out more extensive independent research assignments in the field of marine geology
expanded skills for employment in the field of marine geology, both within the country and abroad
