Overview

Special Education research at Stockholm University deals with conditions for participation and learning with a basis in societal, organisational, group and individual perspectives.

There is an emphasis on examining how educational environments can support or impede development, learning and socialisation among children, youth and adults.

Content of the doctoral program

Some of the courses are given at the Department of Special Education but you can also study at other departments and universities. Throughout your study period you will receive scientific supervision, usually by two supervisors.

Your education ends with a dissertation for a doctoral degree or a licentiate seminar for lic. degree when the scientific work is defended at a public seminar. Your own research work is the most important and crucial part of your doctoral education.
