Gender Studies explores power relations, gender norms, and how gender intersects with, for example, sexuality, ethnicity, and class. Expertise in gender studies is needed in many different professions in the business world and the public sector.

Research conducted at the Centre for Gender Research at Uppsala University is interdisciplinary and the researchers have their backgrounds in various disciplines in the faculties of the humanities, social sciences, medicine, and natural/technological sciences.

A person meets the general entry requirements for PhD Programmes if he or she:

has been awarded a second-cycle qualification;
has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle; or
has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
