- PhD studies comprise 240 third-cycle credits, which correspond to four years of full-time studies and leads to a doctoral degree (PhD). The doctoral Chemistry program at Lund University includes a research project, for which you are responsible, and courses.

- You defend the thesis at a public seminar.
- You can also chose to take a licentiate degree after earning 120 credits.

General requirements
- In order to be admitted to research studies, applicants must meet the general entry requirements, which are a Master’s degree or courses comprising at least 240 credits (of which at least 60 in the second cycle).
- There are also specific entry requirements for each subject. Normally you should have completed at least 90 credits in the subject that you want to do specialize in to be admitted to the post graduate education program.
