About the programme

The SciMed doctoral college at the University of Bonn is committed to:

providing a systematic education in Medicine and Dental Medicine during the doctoral thesis work on a high level
to support students during the doctoral thesis work leading to Dr. med. / Dr. med. dent. degree, i.e. via SciMed stipends, a mentoring program and intensive evaluation and discussion

Programme Structure

The doctoral college incorporates the following instruments:

Methods education: the education in advanced molecular and cellular methods is supplied in a common program, the Graduate School BIGS-Neuroscience. It consists of a seminar series, in addition to wide ranging practical courses in advanced technologies.
Mentoring program
Evaluation
Further scientific support will be organized in the form of lab seminars and progress reports within the scientific core areas of the faculty.

Applications for the SciMed Doctoral Collge have to be submitted as a common application of medical student and Faculty Member.
Central criteria in the evaluation of grant proposal are the scientific quality of the project, the qualification of the student applicant and the participation in the Pre-SciMed Program. The evaluation procedure entails scientific review by a Faculty Member, as well as a personal interview.
