About the programme

Nursing focuses on areas aimed to improve health, prevent illness and restore and preserve health, alleviate suffering and protect personal integrity and dignity.

The aim of the doctoral studies in Nursing at Luleå University of Technology is to give the doctoral student specialised knowledge in Nursing, in-depth knowledge of different research methods and a good understanding of the challenges related to research and its practical application.

General requirements

An applicant meets the general entry requirements for doctoral (third-cycle) studies if he or she has been awarded a Master’s (second-cycle) qualification, has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 second-cycle credits, or has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in another way, in Sweden or elsewhere.
In addition to the requirement for basic qualifications, a Degree of Master with main subject/main area in Nursing/Degree in Nursing is required for admission to third-cycle studies in Nursing.
