About the program

The Energy, Materials, Geosciences, Space Sciences doctoral school at the University of Orleans supports its PhD students’ doctoral and professional projects.

In relation with the host laboratories, the Doctoral School’s two main missions are to ensure the support of the doctoral course until the defence of the thesis and to prepare the professional integration of future PhD graduates by introducing them to a broader scientific culture and knowledge of the business world.

Our objective is to implement a policy of excellence at all levels: recruitment, thesis follow-up, high quality training and doctoral supervision. This approach aims to ensure high level theses providing PhD students with an opportunity to add value to their PhD degree and thus enhance their professional integration in the academic world or private sector.

Programme Structure

Topics include:

Plasma and water droplets: the new frontier of plasma and liquid interaction
Role of DMA and TMA in the nucleation of aerosols involved in cloud formation
Experimental study and modelling of the thermal decomposition kinetics applied to Li-ion batteries
Thermomechanical modelling of the nonlinear behaviour of refractory masonries
Uncertainty quantification of the anisotropic thermo-hydro-mechanical behaviors of host rock and reliability analysis of deep underground structures
