About the programme

Doctoral researchers will become members of the Centre for International Education (CIE), a global leader in this field, and will be based in the Department of Education, located in the School of Education and Social Work.

Our doctoral researchers in International Education and Development at the University of Sussex come from all over the world and this PhD will help advance your professional career.

Programme Structure

Research:

Your supervisors are generally members of CIE and are global in outlook. They all share an understanding that education lies at the heart of development and poverty reduction.
Their research interests include conflict and peace-building, refugee education, gender justice, critical pedagogies, inclusion, governance and global education policy.
You will have opportunities to engage with other research centres in the School and across the University and to work in international and interdisciplinary ways.
