Overview
The Criminal Law graduate from Comenius University Bratislava can analyze, synthesize and compare the legal institutes of the legal branch of criminal law, as well as related legal branches, with the aim of creating de lege ferenda proposals, in the interest of their more effective application in the legal order.
Career opportunities
The graduate is professionally and personally qualified to hold positions with national reach in the area of methodologies, guidance, supervision and control of the fight against criminal activity and the course of criminal proceedings in the structures of the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, the Prosecutor's Office of the Slovak Republic, courts of the Slovak Republic, advocacy and security forces.
The graduate is also eligible for employment in the scientific-pedagogical sphere, especially in the position of a assistant professor at the Faculty of Law or in a scientific position in scientific institutions in Slovakia, e.g. at the Slovak Academy of Sciences, etc.

General requirements
- The basic prerequisite for admission to doctoral studies is a second-level university degree.
- Completion of a master's degree programme in law in the Slovak Republic, or completion of a master's degree programme in law in the Czech Republic, or completion of a master's degree programme in law in a country other than the Slovak Republic or the Czech Republic on the basis of the Decision on the Equivalence of Documents.
- Excellent knowledge and skills in the field of law to be the subject of the doctoral studies - at least at the level of a graduate of a master's degree programme.
- The ability to study, communicate at a professional level and publish in at least one world language;
