Overview

The didactic offer fosters the development of methodological research know-how of the students, including the systematic development of the research of literary phenomena and processes in the context of synchronic and diachronic approaches, the creation of various texts, their analysis, interpretation (including scientific publications) and research procedures, literary studies with the implementation of appropriate methods and techniques.

The acquired literary studies competencies enable further novel, scientific projects within literary and cultural studies.

Graduate profile

Having graduated from the Literary Studies programme at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, the alumni demonstrate profound knowledge within the scope of humanities – particularly literary issues – associated with their doctoral projects.

The alumni are competent in researching particular literary cases and communicating in their mother tongues and foreign languages. The alumni are ready to self-educate, as well as to undertake individual or team scientific challenges. They are prepared for the highest-quality research and didactic effort and can seek employment with higher education institutions, research institutes, and other scientific and/or educational establishments.

The alumni will be adequately prepared for post-doctoral internship/training, a continuation of research, and employment in the academic environment, be it in the home or foreign research institutions.

Admission to doctoral schools is open to candidates who hold the degree of Master of Arts, Master of Science (Master of Engineering) or equivalent.
In exceptional cases, justified by the highest quality of scientific achievements, a person who is a graduate of the first cycle studies or a student who completed the third year of a single cycle five-year master's studies may also be admitted.
Applicants will submit a proposal of a unique research project with bibliography prepared for the purposes of the admission (up to 8 pages of standard typescript, max. 15,000 characters with spaces) and take part in an interview.
