Programme Structure
Curriculum:
- Using theories of human behaviour and social systems, social work intervenes at the points where people interact with their environments.
- We offer an integrated programme approved by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) for social work students wishing to register with the South African Council for Social Services Professions (SACSSP) as professional social workers.
- Both undergraduate and postgraduate education are offered with extensive skills and field practice training.
- This intensive four-year degree prepares students for the world of work as professionals who may pursue master‘s or doctoral studies.

- Applications will only be considered if applicants provide UKZN with an evaluation document from South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) stating that their post schools qualifications are equivalent to the South African requirements for admission to postgraduate studies.
- Evaluation documents must be enclosed with your applications or submitted as soon as available.
- Official translations must be submitted if certificates are not in English.
- Note the level of performance required for postgraduate studies. Consult English Requirements.
