About the programme
The PhD in Music at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg is a research degree that is undertaken through supervision, which includes performance lessons for performance candidates, rather than formal taught courses.
Notwithstanding this, and depending on the nature of the creative work and the intake of candidates, there may from time to time be seminar-type classes, attendance at and participation in which will be compulsory.

- Before research and writing commences for the degree, the student will be required to submit a proposal within six months after their first registration (part-time students have twelve months in which to submit this document).
