Curriculum

The Programme represents paradigmatic plurality, i.e. it is open to interpretative, critical, postmodern, and other alternative philosophies of science, in addition to the prevailing functionalist approach, and actively supports students in learning about and choosing between different scientific paradigms.

Within the constraints of the chosen scientific paradigm, it is possible to use both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and even a mix of these within or between research projects.

In recent years, qualitative methodologies have been dominated by case study research, content analysis of in-depth interviews, participatory and ethnographic methods, while quantitative methodologies have been dominated by descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate statistical analyses of data collected through questionnaire surveys.

A degree from a university or equivalent accredited Master’s programme (MA or MSc) (Part-time MBA degrees are not accepted).

A minimum level of B2 in English is required to complete the training. Please upload copies of language examinations, if available, as proof of language proficiency on the application page.

You can apply even if you have no prior studies in the relevant discipline (but otherwise meet all the admission requirements). You can start your studies on condition that you take the designated catch-up courses and pass an exam in the first semester of your PhD studies.

Preference will be given to applicants who have won an OTDK (National Scientific Students’ Associations Conference) award. Proven research ability (OTD, scientific publications) is also an advantage.
