Audience
Ambitious medical doctors (MD or junior resident) and biomedical MSc graduates who want to become clinician-scientists and translate bench discoveries into bedside therapies. Ideal candidates have solid English (B2+), some prior research exposure, and a passion for evidence-based, patient-centred care in an international, interdisciplinary setting.

Teaching team: senior clinician-scientists from Semmelweis University’s Centre for Translational Medicine and its partner hospitals. Core mentors include Prof. Péter Hegyi, MD, PhD, DSc – founder of the Translational Medicine Cycle and member of Academia Europaea; Prof. Béla Merkely, MD, PhD, DSc, FACC – Rector of Semmelweis and world-leading cardiologist; Prof. Péter Ferdinandy, MD, PhD, MBA – highly cited cardiovascular pharmacology researcher; and Prof. Zsolt Molnár, MD, PhD – international critical-care expert and SepsEast Honorary President. All students work in small research groups guided by a supervisor, statistician and expert discussant.

240 ECTS over 8 semesters: 16 ECTS taught methodology (core + elective), 200 ECTS supervised research work, 24 ECTS teaching & dissemination. Progress logged each semester in Neptun and validated by supervisor & Doctoral Office. Up to 6 external ECTS may be transferred with approval.

Funding
Merit-based Semmelweis scholarships can waive up to 50 % of the €10 000-per-semester fee. Hungary’s Stipendium Hungaricum scheme may fully fund tuition, living stipend, insurance and housing. Erasmus+ doctoral mobility grants and an automatic 50 % alumni discount are also available.
