Overview

The graduate of the Sports Sciences research degree from Comenius University Bratislava will possess extensive knowledge of theories, scientific methods, including methodology, at a level that meets international criteria. They will master current research paradigms in relevant areas of sports sciences. The graduate will be able to actively acquire new knowledge and information, critically analyze, compare, verify, evaluate, and apply it in existing theories or in the creation of new theories and practical applications for the development of sports sciences.

Career opportunities

Upon completion of the study programme, the graduate is prepared for several professions:

In the academic field: University lecturer specializing in the training of sports professionals, who is also required to engage in scientific research or a research scientist at the same institution.

In the research field: Research scientist in institutions of various focuses where qualifications in sports sciences are required, e.g., athlete diagnostics.

In sports practice: Sports professional (coach in various sports, fitness coach, methodologist, expert in other aspects of sports training and diagnostics, expert in sports organization management), capable of organizing and managing the training process at various levels, planning, implementing, evaluating, and presenting the results of this activity to the academic and scientific community.

In the private sector: A professional with a broad scope in the field of sports, capable of establishing and leading an independent sports entity providing services to the general public or elite and performance athletes.
