Overview

Through the Medical Science (CRUKCI) programme from University of Cambridge each student is supported by a thesis committee, which also assesses their progress and provides feedback.

All student matters in the Institute are overseen by the CRUK CI Postgraduate Training Committee and the Cancer Biology Postgraduate Education Committee, both of which have the well-being of our students at heart.

Key facts:

All students are encouraged to attend lectures of interest both in the Institute and in the wider University.

They are also expected to participate in journal clubs and lab meetings and to take advantage of the numerous and varied opportunities including transferable skills training offered by both the Institute and the University.

Programme Structure

Curriculum:

Post-submission, the student will be examined orally by two examiners on the content of the thesis and on the wider research area.

The student is expected to give a brief presentatio to the Institute within four months of commencing study.

In addition, every student is expected to submit a first-year report within nine months of commencing study.

The student is then examined orally on the content of the report and on their understanding of the wider research field and their future research plans.

Subject to a satisfactory examination, the student is then fully registered for PhD study.
