History
Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development (QF), was founded in 2010 to continue fulfilling QF’s vision of unlocking human potential. HBKU is a homegrown research and graduate studies University that acts as a catalyst for positive transformation in Qatar and the region while having a global impact.
Education
Through its programs, HBKU offers opportunities for students to engage in inquiry and discovery. Students will be encouraged to broaden their intellectual depth by seeking out problems and working through solutions which lie at the crossroads of traditional disciplines, within each college and across colleges, with existing and new partners.
Research
Research is integral to Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s mission to help build human capacity in Qatar, playing a pivotal role in HBKU’s academic programs across all its colleges. Students have the opportunity to conduct research alongside experts in their field as well as the specialists from the research institutes, who deliver courses as part of postgraduate programs.
In addition, HBKU boasts three national research institutes that are at the forefront of efforts to seek novel solutions to grand challenges facing Qatar and the region: Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), and Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI).

HBKU graduates will emerge as global citizens with life-long learning skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and communications which will enable them to not only compete, but also succeed in the global market.

Student services
- The HBKU Student Life office offers a variety of involvement opportunities in the areas of leadership development and service-learning, including Leader Shape and Not Your Average Spring Break, aimed to provide a holistic university experience.
Housing services
Live independently in shared spaces
Our student housing offers four different types of units, with each resident having a private bedroom and bathroom. These units are also designed to be in close proximity with communal spaces such as study areas, TV lounges, prayer rooms, and laundry facilities.
Available units at both our residential complexes include:
- Single-person room
- One-bedroom apartment, with a kitchenette and a lounge
- Two-bedroom apartment, with a shared kitchenette and lounge
- Studio apartment: one main room consisting of a bedroom, kitchenette, and lounge
Library services
The HBKU Library is home to an extensive range of academic and non-academic resources and periodicals. The HBKU Library is for visitors who may be seeking knowledge in areas as diverse as law, religion, science, and the humanities. It more specifically caters to the needs of the university’s student body by maintaining a database of dissertations and theses completed successfully at HBKU.
Campus life
Students are eligible to live on campus in HBKU Student Housing once they have been accepted to HBKU, or one of its partner universities, or the Academic Bridge Program. All students, including first year students, are eligible to live in the single-gender residence halls.
- All residents will have a private bedroom and bathroom
- Rooms are allocated on a first come first serve basis. Do not delay in applying for your space
- All housing units are fully furnished and include wireless internet access
- Students have access to an on-campus shuttle to make travel across more convenient across campus
- Students have a variety of meal options and plans to choose from, available on-site at the dining hall
Sports facilities
Leagues, facilities, classes, and tournaments are offered year-round to HBKU student: in order to promote healthy lifestyle and wellness. HBKL has a Male Football Team and teams for basketball and female football are currently recruiting. Please contact sports and recreation for further information.
Student clubs
Students have the opportunity to create student organizations based on shared interest. They will receive support and advising from a staff member with a dedicated budget too. Existing opportunities include the HBKU Student Council, International Student Club, and the Qatari Cultural Club.

Beginning Of A New Journey
So i am a good in my studies and have a great experience so far.

I really like in my university was faculty, but the thing that should improve is portal management system. Overall my experience was good.
