History
Montana State University was established in 1893 as the Agricultural College of the State of Montana.
Education

Research
MSU is recognized nationally for its prominence in research among leading public research universities. Research expenditures at MSU typically exceed $100 million annually and top research departments include immunology, chemistry and biochemistry, transportation, physics, and land resources and environmental sciences; while much of the research funding from the National Institutes of Health, Departments of Energy, Defense and Agriculture, and private sources. MSU research has led to significant discoveries that are changing the world. MSU holds more than 250 active technology licenses. In addition, 91 patents and 36 plant variety certificates have been issued for MSU discoveries with many more pending.

Student services
Launched in 2011, the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success comprises the Office of Student Success; Career, Internship & Student Employment Services; the Office of Financial Education; the Office of Return-to-Learn and the MSU Hilleman Scholars Program. The Center saw 17,900 client visits last year, with increased growth each year since its inception.
Housing services
The University provides eleven residence halls with various living options. The halls offer many services, including study rooms, computer facilities, and kitchen areas. There are options for coed, all-male, and all-female residence halls. Options are available for non-traditional students.
Space in MSU’s residence halls is guaranteed to any undergraduate student desiring one. Students are encouraged to live in a residence hall during their first term at MSU in order to meet other students in a relaxed, secure, and convenient environment. Undergraduates with fewer than 30 semester credits completed are required to live in a residence hall on campus.
Library services
Located in the center of campus, our Library has over 140 public computer workstations, printers, scanners, tech-rich group study rooms, and quiet study areas.
ICT services
The IT Center is the provider of central information technology services to Montana State University.
Medical services
UHP Medical and Dental Services are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, and are committed to meeting the highest and most current health standards. Services are provided by experienced physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other health care professionals.
Campus life
As Montana's largest university, Montana State is constantly striving to improve the quality of the student experience on campus.
In the past decade, MSU has added over 4,000 students to campus. Along the way, we have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in new and improved infrastructure to help improve the student experience. Residence hall renovations, classroom upgrades, additional parking spaces, and new academic buildings have all occurred within the past five years, raising the bar for quality of life on our Bozeman campus.

Accreditation
MSU maintains and exceeds a variety of accreditation requirements that were designed to ensure high quality educational standards. MSU is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. During its most recent re-accreditation, MSU was commended for an "extremely high level of productivity and effectiveness." In addition to national accreditation, many of MSU’s colleges, departments and programs also maintain rigorous accreditation credentials through discipline specific agencies.

My overall study experience at this university has been incredible. Montana State University has a welcoming environment and so much to offer. More specifically I have been pleasantly surprised with the fantastic faculty in the Jake Jabs College of Business. Everyone who works there has one goal and that is to do everything in their power to help each and every student succeed and find their passion
