Overview
Graduate of the Biotechnologies programme from Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava:
- is able to obtain information on biotechnological production and regulation of metabolite production from primary and secondary information sources as well as electronic databases and evaluate them to solve the given problem
- can design and implement targeted regulation of the biotechnological process for optimal overproduction of desired metabolites
- has in-depth information on the course of metabolic pathways of biosynthesis of given metabolites and can redesign metabolic pathways using e.g. genetic engineering for the production of new interesting biologically active substances
Career
Graduates will be employed in biotechnology, food and pharmaceutical companies, universities and research institutes. They can also join consulting and design companies as well as domestic and foreign commercial and technical organizations.
The versatility of this study programme allows the graduate to be employed in all countries of the European Union in the biotechnology, food and pharmaceutical industries in positions requiring a tertiary education. After additional training, they will find positions in other technical areas, thanks to the acquired technical way of thinking.
Graduates have extensive knowledge of microbiology, fermentation technology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, biochemistry, enzymology, biocatalysis, environmental and pharmaceutical biotechnology, bioengineering, chemical and bioanalytical methods and techniques.
