History
- The Queensland University of Technology Act was passed in 1988, following approval of university status for the Queensland Institute of Technology. Queensland University of Technology (QUT) began operating in January 1989.
- Since then they have grown to accommodate more than 40,000 students and offer more than 400 courses and extensive research programs.

Finding accommodation
- There are many options within walking distance or easily accessed by public transport and we recommend living close to campus.
- You can choose from student residential complexes, residential colleges, or an agent-operated student accommodation. These usually include a private room with a bed, study desk. Bathrooms, kitchens, and common rooms are shared.

There are two libraries at Gardens Point:

Sports facilities
- Facilities include a pool, gym and stadium, with opportunities for personal training, exercise services and student sports.
- Across both Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point campuses, QUT’s sports facilities are inclusive spaces that include gyms and FINA accredited aquatic centres, an indoor sports court, two outdoor sports courts, FIFA accredited sports field with a running track, esports arena, and a virtual sport studio.

Joining a student club is a great way to meet like-minded students and build lifelong friendships. They've got more than 100 student clubs for recreation, music, sport, social justice and more, including clubs and societies connected to your course or study area.
You can find and join student clubs and societies at Welcome Week, and as a student you can also start your own club or society.

Supportive uni choice
