History
Since its founding in 1972 by the six original members of the then European Communities, the European University Institute (EUI) has earned a reputation as a leading international academic institution with a European focus.
Education
The four departments – Economics, History and Civilisation, Law, and Political and Social Sciences – host scholars from more than 100 countries, studying for the Institution’s doctorate, the one-year Master in Law or the Master of Research in Economics.
Research
- EUI’s research programmes and projects produce cutting-edge work in a wide range of fields and disciplines. Research activities at the EUI cover projects, seminars, workshops, conferences and summer schools that enhance intellectual discourse and debate.

Career
- The European University Institute (EUI) is situated on the hills of Fiesole, overlooking Florence, Italy. It is a challenging and rewarding workplace for more than 1000 people, hailing from more than 100 countries across the globe. The Institute hosts around 550 PhD researchers, more than 125 postdoctoral and senior fellows, around 150 full- and part-time professors, research staff of around 135 and administrative staff of almost 220 members.

They measure the rate of students going to their second year of studies, as well as the rate of students who graduate. It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. After calculating and comparing these criteria, U.S. News ranks the top international universities accordingly.

Student services
The EUI - European University Institute Counselling Service offers you a professional, secure and friendly space where you can talk about whatever is worrying you, with total respect for your values, choices and lifestyle.
Housing services
The EUI owns and manages 71 apartments located near the Institute. The EUI Housing Office organizes the allocation of the EUI residential apartments (PAB and PDM) and provides, through FHS (Florence Housing Service), selected following a call for expression of interest, assistance to all members of the EUI Community in finding long and short term accommodation on the private market in and around Florence.
Library services
More than forty years of investment in collections, services and infrastructure, have resulted in an internationally recognised social science research library, valued for its multi-national character and the high quality of its collections with a special emphasis on Europe.
ICT services
The primary aim of the Information and Communication Technology Service (ICT) is to support the European University Institute (EUI) and its community in pursuing teaching and research at the highest university level.
Campus life
- The European University Institute is seated on the Tuscan hillside overlooking Florence and close to Fiesole.
- Many of the villas date from the Renaissance period and have been restored along with their landscaped gardens. Newly-built residencies for researchers are a welcome addition to the EUI campus.
Sports facilities
- The EUI Gym can be reached by following the road down the hill from the Badia car parks to Via Roccettini. It is a small white building on the left with an adjacent basketball court.
- EUI members wishing to access the gym must attend a compulsory induction course. Everyone is welcome to register.

Very smooth and Easy process which was guided by the Staff in the Dean's Office. I joined as a Master;s student, Amazing Staff and Premises.
